The die used for hardware stamping parts is called a stamping die, or punching die for short. The die is a special tool to process the material (metal or non-metal) into the required punching parts in batch. The die is crucial in stamping, and without a die that meets the requirements, it is difficult to produce a batch of stamping.
Without improving the technology of punching die, it is impossible to improve the stamping process. Stamping process, die, stamping equipment and stamping material constitute the three elements of stamping process, only when they are combined with each other, can the output of stamping parts.
Compared with other forms of processing such as machining and plastic processing, the metal stamping process has many advantages in terms of technology and economy. The main performance is as follows.
(1) Stamping generally does not produce chips and scraps, the consumption of materials is less, and no other heating equipment is needed, so it is a material-saving and energy-saving processing method, and the cost of producing stamped parts is lower.
(2) Since the die guarantees the dimensional and shape accuracy of the stamped parts in the stamping process, and the surface quality of the stamped parts is not damaged under normal circumstances, and the life of the die is generally long, the quality of the stamped parts is not poor, the exchangeability is good, and the characteristics of “one mold” are the same.
(3) Hardware stamping parts can process parts with large size range and complex shape, such as small clock stopwatch, large automobile longitudinal beam, cage parts, etc., and the cold deformation and hardening effect of materials during stamping, the strength and rigidity of stamping are higher.
(4) The production efficiency of hardware stamping processing is high, and it is convenient to manipulate and easy to realize mechanization and automation.
Since stamping depends on the punching die and stamping equipment to complete the processing, the number of strokes per minute of an ordinary press can reach several dozen.
High-speed presses can make hundreds or even thousands of strokes per minute, and each stamping stroke can get one punching part, so the production of hardware stamping parts can realize efficient mass production.
